Katalina Arboleda-Guerrero   ~   Project Architect / Designer

Katalina graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, New York, with a Bachelor of Architecture in 2004. After a brief internship that entailed digital design and fabrication working for former professor William Massie in Troy, NY and White Sulfur Springs, Montana.   She began her professional career in New York City working for TEN-Arquitectos.   There she worked on the "Aztec Empire" exhibit for the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao and the "New York Fast Forward: Buildings by Enrique Norten" exhibition at the Museum of the City of New York in 2005, featuring New York City projects.   The work of TEN is widely recognized and published nationally and internationally.   Her contributions led to the completion of One York a luxury residential build-ing;  TEN-Arquitectos' first in the U.S.

In 2005 she joined Lee Harris Pomeroy Architects where she collaborated with a team of seven and designed a crystalline 60 - story tower located in Tianjin, China comprised of a 5 - star hotel and high-end resi-dential apartments.   She also worked on the Super Tower International Competition a mix-use hospitality and residential project in addition to the Hampton Library in Bridgehampton, New York.  

In 2006 she was invited to become an adjunct faculty member at the at Rensselaer School of Architecture where she taught Design Studio I, Design Studio II and Introductory Course to Rhinoceros 3D.   During her year at Rensselaer she joined EY/e design an "innovative design laboratory" that investigates "inter-relationships between architecture, landscape and technology."   The firm of four in collaboration with NBBJ won a series of international competitions for large-scale projects in Almaty and Astana, the previous and current capital of Kazakhstan.   Adding to her already busy schedule she also served as an International Business Manager for a Textile company in Colombia.   Managing Imports & Exports of Textile Machinery, which included numerous roles including monitoring quality assurance at the manufacturer in China. What's more she was able to implement design sensibility into the functionality while creating a brand within the textile market sector.

In 2007 Kat joined MHG Architects a firm with over 40 years of experience in Architecture and Planning.The projects she completed focused on residential developments and community planning.   They comprised of a spectrum of buildings involving new construction as well as rehabilitation.

Kat has received numerous awards including the American Institute of Architect's Medal in 2004 and the Founders Award of Excellence given to students who embody qualities of creativity, discovery, leadership, and the values of pride and responsibility.   Her student and professional work has been published and she has been a guest critic at numerous academic reviews.   She has participated in Interdisciplinary Research and her collaborations have been exhibited in universities, museums, conferences and galleries.
